President Joe Biden shared praise for Vice President Kamala Harris at a Labor Day campaign event where she made some hefty promises, including a vow to “end union busting” forever.

The event was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Monday, where Harris spoke before union workers, who promised she would pass legislation that would override state “right to work” laws that make union membership voluntary.

“We fight for a future where every worker has the freedom to organize, and we will pass the [Protecting the Right to Organize Act] and end union busting once and for all,” Harris said.

In a shot at her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, Harris claimed that he was “trying to pull us backward, including back to a time before workers had the freedom to organize.”

She went on to say that Trump “blocked overtime benefits for millions of workers” and didn’t want to “raise the minimum wage” while he was in office the first time. Harris also said that Trump appointed known “union busters” to the National Labor Relations Board.

Harris did not mention her recent shift on fracking while speaking in Pittsburgh, as it contributes to tens of thousands of jobs in the state.

While Harris claimed during a CNN town hall in 2019 that she was “in favor of banning fracking,” she has since backtracked, saying, “As president, I will not ban fracking.”

President Biden appeared on stage with Harris in Pennsylvania on Monday, praising his VP as the “rational choice” to succeed him as president.

“She has a backbone like a ramrod,” the president said. “She has the moral compass of a saint.”

Biden went on to say that stepping down and endorsing Harris to be the Democratic nominee was the “single best” decision of his presidency.

“This woman knows what she’s doing,” Biden said. “Folks, I promise you, if you elect Kamala Harris president, it will be the best decision you will have ever made.”
