Most voters (72%) who participated in a Fox News poll conducted from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11 said they believe it is important for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

This includes a vast majority (88%) of Republicans, a majority of independents (74%) and a slim majority of Democrats (54%) polled. Specifically, the poll asked if it is important for the DOJ to investigate “Hunter Biden’s business dealings with foreign governments.”

According to Fox, they survey was conducted “under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R),” and included 1,005 randomly selected registered voter participants.

While results indicate that there is support for a Hunter Biden investigation across party lines, Fox said that people from the separate parties disagree on what the investigation might reveal. Most (70%) Republicans think Hunter Biden did something illegal in his business dealings with Ukraine and China and that President Biden committed a crime related to his son’s activities (63%). Only 11% of Democrats think Hunter did something illegal and an even lower percentage (8%) believe the president did.

“Overall, 39% think Hunter Biden committed a crime, 31% say he did something unethical but not illegal and 19% believe he did nothing seriously wrong,” according to the poll results. Percentages were around the same for the president.

National telephone and online survey results from Rasmussen Reports and “Miranda Devine’s Laptop From Hell” released Nov. 28 also found that 62% of likely U.S. voters “approved of the House GOP’s investigation of Hunter Biden’s overseas deals,” with 42% who said they strongly approve.

Laptop From Hell” is a book about a laptop Hunter Biden left at a Delaware repair shop.

A summary for the book describes the laptop as “a treasure trove of corporate documents, emails, text messages, photographs, and voice recordings, spanning a decade,” that “provided the first evidence that President Joe Biden was involved in his son’s ventures in China, Ukraine, and beyond, despite his repeated denials.”

“After two years of scrutiny, the laptop has produced mountains of material about Hunter Biden's personal struggles, and his foreign business ventures in Ukraine and with China,” CBS News reported Nov. 21. “It has not produced direct evidence President Biden benefited from his son’s business dealings.”

That same day Morning Consult poll results were released that found few Americans want Congress to prioritize investigations into Hunter Biden.

“With the Senate again narrowly in Democratic hands and House Republicans likely to hold only a small majority, the GOP’s biggest strength will be on the investigative front,” said Morning Consult. “Using congressional authority, a Republican-led House will be able to force administration officials on the defensive on a range of issues, from grievances over the COVID-19 pandemic to the personal finances of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.”

“We’re learning in real-time how Twitter colluded to silence the truth about Hunter Biden’s laptop just days before the 2020 presidential election,” said GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy early this month. “In 32 days, the new House Republican majority will get answers for the American people and the accountability they deserve.”

Less than 3 in 10 registered voter participants in the Morning Consult poll – conducted from Nov. 10 to Nov. 14 among a representative sample of 1,983 voters – said Congress should focus on a presidential impeachment investigation, as sought by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), or Hunter Biden’s business dealings. It did note “there is zeal” among more than half of Republicans for these probes, however.
