A fight broke out between family members at Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, resulting in gunshots being fired, killing one and severely injuring another, according to police.

During a press conference at the scene, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton shared that the family came to the hospital after another incident happened near DeKalb County on Sunday night.

“What we do know is the incident started in DeKalb County, and some family members from that incident showed up outside Grady emergency room,” Hampton said, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “There was a dispute, and that then escalated to gunfire.”

Hampton shared that the scene was quickly contained, and while there was never a threat of an active shooter, the area was secured by police.

Fox5 reported that police blocked the street outside the hospital, with evidence markers placed around the building with a car out front with blood on its side.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and police have shared they are looking for at least three shooters. They added that everyone involved is believed to be in the same family.
