Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to a booking report.

The report, obtained by NBC News, shared that Mahomes was charged with a DWI and booked in Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas.

The 53-year-old was released on Sunday, according to jail records, after he posted a $10,000 surety bond.

The arrest comes a weekend before his son is set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the Superbowl in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11.

This is not the first time that Mahomes has been arrested on a DWI charge. In 2018, he was sentenced to 40 days of jail time that was served on weekends for the charge, according to NBC News.

Mahomes and his team have not yet responded to requests for comment on the situation.
