A shooting erupted in the Houston-area overnight at what police believe was a party at a short term-rental home. The shooting resulted in the death of at least three and has police investigating what happened.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office shared that officers responded to the “active” and “chaotic” scene just after 2 a.m. in Katy.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared at a press conference on Sunday morning that two people were found dead at the property, and another was taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries.
Investigators are now working to discover what happened at the home, but details are sparse at the moment.
“We believe this was a small gathering that turned deadly,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said that they aren’t sure whether the suspected shooter was inside or outside the house, as evidence shows shots were fired from the street and inside. They are also working to identify how many shooters opened fire.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing at this time.
