Former President Donald Trump decided to take shots at one of his fellow Republican nominee hopefuls on Tuesday, this time making comments about Chris Christie’s weight and eating habits.
Trump’s comments came while he was speaking at a high school gym in Windham, New Hampshire, when a fan criticized Christie.
“Don’t call him a fat pig,” Trump responded, playfully reprimanding his supporter. “You can’t do that.”
The former New Jersey governor announced he was running for the Republican nomination earlier this summer, giving him another shot to go at Trump, as the two also butted heads for the 2016 GOP nomination.
However, Trump hasn’t given much of his time to Christie, as he only brought his name up while discussing recent polls in the state, which have him leading among conservative voters and saw Christie tie for second with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“Christie, he’s eating right now,” Trump said. “He can’t be bothered.”
It was after that comment that his supporters began ridiculing Christie.
“Sir, please do not call him a fat pig. I’m trying to be nice. Don’t call him a fat pig,” Trump said, jokingly. “You can’t do that.”
While Trump may be trying to 'be nice,' Christie is not holding back, as a super PAC supporting Christie recently took out a full-page ad in the Union Leader newspaper on Tuesday accusing Trump of being “afraid to debate” because he has yet to commit to appearing at the first GOP debate in Milwaukee this month.
During a June interview, Christie also flipped the script on Trump while addressing comments about his weight, saying that Trump was 'no Adonis.'
Other comments from Trump on Tuesday night seemed to be expected, as he continued to say the 2020 election was “stolen” while also calling his three indictments “bulls***.”
