Former President Donald Trump, who accepted a proposal for two debates against President Joe Biden last week, is now demanding that his predecessor be drug tested before they take the stage.
The remarks from Trump came while he was speaking at the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln Reagan Dinner Friday.
“I’m gonna demand a drug test too, by the way,” Trump said. “I am, no I really am. I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union, he was high as a kite.”
The request for a drug test from Biden is nothing new for the former president, as Trump previously said that during Biden’s State of the Union address, Biden was “all jacked up” and “higher than a kite.”
Currently, Biden and Trump are slotted to face off in a debate hosted by CNN on June 27 and another hosted by ABC in September.
Biden proposed the idea to Trump last week in a post to social media, and the former president quickly accepted the terms, which will include it being held at a television studio, without the typical live audience.
“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place,” Biden said in a post on X.
“It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10. Thank you, DJT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social after news of the June 27 date broke.
Trump has said that he would accept any moderator for the event, but shared on Friday at the dinner that CNN had to be fair in hosting.
“They gotta be fair, I think they gotta be fair, and if they’re not, you know, you have to deal with it. Right? You have to deal with it,” Trump said at the dinner.
Biden’s team has not responded to Trump’s comments at this time.
