A Florida man, who is accused of being an MS-13 gang member, was arrested on Monday after an UberEats delivery driver’s remains were found dismembered in his home last week, officials shared.

“This individual is – what he did was demonic,” Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a news conference on Tuesday when announcing the arrest.

Oscar Solis, 30, is believed to be behind the murder that left law enforcement officials speechless at how gruesome it was. Solis has been charged with murder while engaged in a robbery.

Nocco shared on Tuesday that he didn’t want to get into the details of the case, but it was noted in a press release that the remains of the victim were found in trash bags inside Solis’s home.

Investigators believe that Solis was attempting to rob the driver before he killed him, according to the release. Nocco said that Solis is affiliated with the violent criminal gang MS-13, which has international ties to drug and human trafficking.

The victim, who encountered Solis last Wednesday, had been near his own house while dropping off the food and texted his wife to tell her that he was making a final delivery and would be home soon, Nocco said.

After the victim did not return home, his wife reported him missing later that night, saying that he stopped replying to texts and never came home, Nocco said.

Investigators made their way to Solis’s home after launching an investigation into the victims’ disappearance. The sheriff says that after finding the victim’s body parts in bags, they located his wedding ring and car keys in the home.

Police have not found a connection between the suspect and the victim, saying it appears to be a random killing.

“All it appears is that there was a gentleman who was working, he was doing his last delivery of the night, and this person killed him for no reason, and he took him away from his family,” Nocco said.

An Uber spokesperson shared a statement with CNN about the killing, saying, “We are heartbroken by the news of this horrific crime,” adding that the victim should “be home with his family today, and we are keeping his loved ones in our thoughts.”

“We have been in close contact with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office throughout their investigation and thank them for their dedication to this case,” the company’s statement said.

This isn’t the first time a food delivery driver has been the victim of a violent crime. Last week, a Florida man was arrested in Tampa for allegedly kidnapping and sexually battering a DoorDash driver.

According to police, the driver was rescued thanks to her girlfriend’s family tracking her phone and confronting the man while he was assaulting her.
