Officials have fired a Louisiana water plant worker after he was caught on camera urinating into the parish water supply at the plant, officials and police shared.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that Michael Mastin, 57, was arrested and charged with two counts of contaminating water supplies and two counts of criminal damage to critical infrastructure.

The incident in question took place on March 19 and was caught on video by security cameras at the water plant in Donaldsonville.

The video shows Mastin approach the camera and move it so his lower body and the water can not be seen. For a minute, the video shows him standing over the water before he walks back to the camera and returns it to its normal position, WBRZ reported.

Parish officials were made aware of the act days after it happened, the outlet reported. After finding out, Mastin was fired from his position and then arrested by the sheriff’s office.

Ascension President Clint Cointment shared that contamination by urination was never a threat to the community whose water comes from the plant. He shared in a statement to WBRZ that “water samples taken to date are in good standing and meet all safe water drinking requirements.”
