Fortune magazine has compiled its 2023 list of the best large retailers to work for, and the company that tops the ranking has been selling its wares for over 100 years.
Founded in 1916, Wegman’s Food Markets was named the best workplace among large retailers. Based in Rochester, N.Y., the store employs over 51,000 workers across the U.S.
One of the nation’s most widespread retailers ranked second on the list. With over 1,950 locations in the U.S. alone, Target is a retail behemoth, but Fortune says their 430,000+ workers worldwide enjoy the second-best working experience available.
Pennsylvania-based Sheetz took third place in the survey, which Fortune conducted in conjunction with analytics firm Great Place to Work, and workers all over the world participated in the poll.
Sheetz is enjoying a raised profile as of late, having also been named to People magazines 100 Companies That Care list.
Altar’d State and Publix rounded out the top five.
