ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - President Joe Biden, along with First Lady Jill Biden are in France this week to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in France.
The visit to France has already been a busy one, as he has visited hallowed ground near the beaches of Normandy, met with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky in Paris, and is set to speak on Friday at Pointe du Hoc.
While the trip to France has been rather smooth, Biden did add another gaffe into his quite-already long list of misspoken errors during his presidency, asking Americans whether they want to choose freedom over democracy during a gala speech.
John Hancock and Michael Kelley, hosts of Hancock and Kelley, joined Total Information A.M. to discuss the gaffe, with both their opinions being split based on partisan lines.
"I'm grateful that he is our president, could you imagine if that was Donald Trump giving that speech?," asks Kelley, a longtime Democratic Strategist. "It's the reality of where we are at, we got an aging president who misspeaks occasionally, we got a convicted-felon on the Republican side....sure (Biden) makes mistakes here and there, but he's there and this is a man who is still in control of his capabilities and he's our nominee."
Hancock, who has long been a Republican strategist, disagrees with Kelley, and choose to look at the long-term picture of the speech, saying that the Democratic Party might have cost themselves the White House by not choosing a different or alternative candidate for Biden.
"The Democratic Party has done a grave disservice by not finding a better alternative to Trump than the current president and it may end up costing them the White House," said Hancock. "If every bad thing the Democrat says is going to happen with Trump happens, they really got no one to blame but themselves."
