ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A major talking point in the week has been the fatal American Airlines plane crash that hit an Army helicopter Wednesday night and killed 67 people, including one woman with ties to the St. Louis-area.
However, one of, if not, the biggest talking points has been comments made by President Donald Trump on the plane crash, with Trump on Thursday blaming DEI policies, Obama, and Pete Buttigieg for American Airlines plane crash.
KMOX Political Analysts John Hancock and Michael Kelley joined 'Total Information A.M.' Friday right before their show 'Hancock and Kelley' to discuss Trump comments on the plane trash.
"He's 80-years old. People don't change," said Kelley, a longtime Democratic strategist. "This is who the president is, it's unfortunate and I think it will get old hopefully soon for folks."
"Yesterday. Really? That was the place to start talking about DEI?"
Hancock, the former chair of the Missouri Republican Party, gave his thoughts on Trump's comments.
"What I find interesting is 49% of the voters voted for Donald Trump and of that number, 35% probably like that rhetoric," said Hancock. "The real question of this presidency is that 14% who voted for Trump for a host of reasons, may not particularly care for him or like the rhetoric he employs."
"That 14% I think is going to be very interesting to keep an eye on and see what percentage of those folks Trump continues to hold and keep an eye on his favorable ratings."
