ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Adam Wainwright nearly two-decade long career is set to come to an end Sunday following the conclusion of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. However, don't expect to see Wainwright on the mound.

One week after Wainwright achieved win number 200, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol announced Tuesday that Wainwright's pitching career has come to an end.

Cardinals manager Oli Marmol tells KMOX Wednesday morning a chance to give Wainwright a final at-bat, something the pitcher has been lobbying for, is still being discussed, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.

While Cardinal Nation will almost certainly be disappointed with the decision of the team to not let Wainwright pitch one more game at Busch Stadium, Wainwright will still have a massive presence during the final series of the season against rival Cincinnati Reds that is being dubbed' Waino Weekend.'

Among the events to celebrate Wainwright and his excellent career include a concert performance by Wainwright on Saturday, Sept. 30 followed up by a fireworks display with a soundtrack chosen by Wainwright, Cardinals Director of Sales and Promotions Megan Eberhart announced on 'The Show' Tuesday.

Of course, Sunday, Oct. 1, there will be a pregame ceremony for Wainwright before the team's final game of the season. Cardinals ask fans to come be in their seats at Busch Stadium by 1:15 p.m.

Wainwright will end his career with a record of 200-128, an ERA of 3.53 and a rWAR of 44.8 to go along with two World Series rings, three All-Star appearances, two Gold Gloves, a Silver Slugger and four finishes in the top three of NL Cy Young Voting.
