ST. LOUIS - It was heartbreaking loss for St. Louis City SC Saturday night, losing to Orlando City SC in the dying minutes of stoppage time, allowing a penalty to drop three points on the night.
However, City SC still remains at the top of the Western Conference table with a tight four-point gap over reigning MLS champion LAFC.
Head coach Bradley Carnell joined Total Information A.M. to discuss the team's heartbreaking loss to Orlando City SC.
Carnell thought that the team did play well against Orlando City but also felt let a few things slide.
"We let one or two things slide and those led to goals/penalities. They're some things to correct for sure," said Carnell.
Carnell says the team is 'disappointed with how they finish games at the moment' and they feel like they want be more aggressive from beginning to finish in matches.
"When we have great starts, teams find it difficult to play at CITYPARK," said Carnell, "I think that's the order of the day, to get on the scoresheet early on and have a great start. With the players we've groomed and developed, we feel like we can start to be more ruthless to finish games now."
Carnell also discussed attending the IndyCar race at World Wide Technology racetrack Sunday and discussed his love for motorsport, and the similarities between the mentalities of soccer players and racing car drivers.
