(KMOX) - Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens is throwing his hat in the ring for a Senate seat in the Show-Me State. Greitens announced he's running to replace retiring Republican Sen. Roy Blunt in 2022.
He told Fox News, Missouri "needs a fighter" in the upper chamber.
The announcement comes roughly three years after he stepped down as Missouri's governor because of mounting scandals. That includes accusations of taking pictures of a woman nude without consent to hide an extramarital affair.
Almost immediately after Greitens made his announcement, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani endorsed the ex-Missouri governor. Greitens responded on Twitter, saying he's honored to have the support of his friend.
