US Senator Josh Hawley joined Marc Cox to discuss his recent announcement of support for Rep Vicky Hartzler in her race to fill the Senate seat of Roy Blunt in Missouri. He also talks about enjoying the backlash he's seeing from the sales of coffee mugs featuring the picture of his fist pump on Jan. 6 before the U.S. Capitol riot.

"I imagine it's gonna be a smaller field," once candidates start officially filing for the Senate race to replace outgoing Sen. Roy Blunt, says Hawley. "At the end of the day, there's some great candidates out there. This isn't an endorsement against anybody, but it is an endorsement for Vicky, and I think as Missouri voters around the state get to know her, they're really gonna love her, and I think she'll be a great senator."
His nomination is a big one, but the bigger nod people are waiting for is the one from former President Donald Trump. Hawley says he talks with Trump about this Senate race in Missouri "on a pretty regular basis."
"I did talk to President Trump over the weekend and told him where I had landed," Hawley says. "I'm sure we'll talk more. But I don't push him. I don't tell him what to do. And I never push him to choose or not choose anybody. I don't know if he'll endorse or when he'll endorse. He'll make up his mind when he wants to."
Hawley also commented on President Joe Biden's nominations to the judiciary as well as his upcoming nomination for the United States Supreme Court.
Hawley acknowledges "taking heat" for the sale of a coffee cup which depicts his raised fist toward protesters outside the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 before they attacked police officers and stormed the building.
"I sure am, and it's wonderful, I enjoy every minute of it," joked Hawley. "It always surprised the DC crowd when you stand by your prinicpals and you stand by the people of you state. Listen, I'm not going to back down from representing the people of Missouri and standing up for what's right."
