In a release on Thursday Boeing says it will resume production of passenger jets in Washington next week. Now Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita is planning to put some people back to work.
Boeing suspended work in late March after workers tested positive for the new coronavirus. The company has announced 27,000 people will return to build several jet models and to prepare to resume production on the grounded 737 Max. They plan to have most of the workers back by April 21st.
Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita does a lot of work for Boeing, and they have announced a phased-in return for some furloughed employees. The Wichita Business Journal is reporting some furloughed Spirit workers could be back at work early next week.
