A two-alarm apartment fire in east Wichita has left more than two dozen people without a home. Firefighters responded to the call Monday evening at Lincoln Meadows Apartments in the nine-thousand block of East Lincoln.
Crews found heavy smoke coming from the building upon arrival. Battalion Chief Michael Russell says all residents were able to evacuate the building prior to the firefighters arrival.
We do have around 25 people displaced that won't be able to re-enter their homes," said Chief Russell. "We have American Red Cross coming out to help them with temporary housing and assistance."
Damage to the structure is estimated at 350-thousand dollars. The cause of the fire has not been released.
