The Kansas Highway Patrol said a woman died in a crash southwest of Wichita, in the Schulte area.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Highway K-42 and Maize Road.
The highway patrol said a Chevy pickup towing a trailer was heading west on K-42 when a 2002 Chrysler Sedan attempted to turn.
“The Chrysler turned north and crossed the west-bound lanes into the path of Chevy pickup towing the trailer,” said Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Crittenden.
The two people in the Chrysler were both in their 80s, and both from Ashland, Kansas, which is located 130 miles southwest of Wichita.
The woman who died was a passenger in the car. The male driver was hospitalized with critical injuries.
