Furloughs at Wichita's Spirit Aerosystems. The company announced Monday night that on Wednesday managers and hourly workers in Wichita on Spirit projects that support Boeing programs, will go on unpaid furlough for 21 days. Health care benefits will continue. Salaried employees will begin four day work weeks.  Boeing announced Monday it was suspending operations at its plant in North Charleston, South Carolina. That's where it has a second assembly line for the 787 Dreamliner. The South Carolina shutdown is in addition to the company's shutdown of operations in the Seattle area. Airbus has suspended its operations at its Mobile, Alabama plant. The production pause begins this week. It is expected to last through April 29th. The Mobile plant works closely with the Airbus Americas engineering office in Wichita. It went to remote work in March.
