The Gove County Sheriff's Office in western Kansas announced Friday that Sheriff Allan Weber died after a long battle with COVID-19.
"His smile and sense of humor was second to none and shadowed only by his loving, tender heart," the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page.
Sheriff Weber had been hospitalized in Denver since October 18.
