On Tuesday the Kansas State High School Activities Association voted on baseline restrictions for fans at interscholastic activities starting Thursday. Tuesday’s KSHSAA Board vote comes two weeks after the Board voted to keep fans out entirely through January 28 in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The new guidelines now allow up to two parents/guardians per participant family starting this Thursday, but only as allowed by the local board of education or health department restrictions. Masks will be required of anyone in attendance and 6' social distancing must be maintained. Also, these are baseline restrictions, districts are free to have heavier restrictions on attendance should they deem it necessary.
The final vote was 54 to 24, all three Greater Wichita Area League principals voted against it. The new plan is in effect through Jan. 28th.
