A Wichita man who was changing a flat tire died when he was hit by a semi-trailer truck on I-35 in Franklin County. It happened just after 5:15 on Tuesday morning a few miles northeast of Ottawa, Kan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the driver of a semi truck drove over the line in the right lane and struck and killed 73-year-old Sidney Leroy Huff of Wichita. The truck drove away from the crash. The driver was later stopped by law enforcement officers near Gardner, about 15 miles from the crash scene.
A 23-year-old passenger in Huff's car was not injured.
