Before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, 56-year-old Harold Long was walking across the street in the northwest part of Wichita near 27th & Arkansas, when he was hit and killed by a black of dark-colored Chevy Tahoe, which drove away from the scene.
There have now been 21 fatal traffic accidents this year in Wichita, and 10 of those have come during the past nine weeks.
Investigators say excessive speed has been a factor in more than half of the fatal crashes in Wichita this year.
