Sedgwick County Commissioners were busy Wednesday, tackling funding and COVID-19 testing strategies.
The board had a lengthy discussion regarding CARES Act funding from the federal government. More work is planned to ensure the funds are distributed appropriately and to where there is critical need in the community.
One of those areas is mobile testing capability. Manager Tom Stolz explained the county's goal is "to get the best comprehensive data possible that represents all of our populations, and then utilize that to figure out where our hot spots were at or where the infection is operating within the county."
Commissioners approved $250 thousand for the purchase of a vehicle that would be converted to a mobile testing site. Those funds will also pay for staffing and for testing supplies.
