As identity theft efforts continue to spike nationally, a new phishing venture has been discovered in Kansas.

The Department of Labor says this has targeted the Get Kansas Benefits website, www.GetKansasBenefits.gov. The Labor Department is not giving any other specifics other than to say it is working with the Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Labor Department Inspector General and US Attorney's Office to find those responsible.

If you get correspondence that says it's from the Kansas Department of Labor and it lists contact websites, be sure to check for legitimate information listed below.

*Main site: www.dol.ks.gov *Unemployment benefits: www.GetKansasBenefits.gov *PUA benefits: www.PUA.GetKansasBenefits.gov

If you believe you have been victimized by an identity theft scheme, report it online at www.ReportFraud.ks.gov. The Labor Department says unemployment-based identity theft is now costing taxpayers at least $26 billion.
