Wichita continues to dig out from the record-setting snow on New Year’s Day.

The National Weather Service measured 6.5" of snow yesterday at Eisenhower National Airport. It was Wichita's highest single-day snowfall since February 4, 2014, nearly 7 years ago, when 8.7 inches fell.

The weather service says it was the snowiest New Year's Day since records began in 1888, breaking the record of 4.2 inches measured January 1, 1925.

The 6.5 inches was Wichita's highest single-day January snowfall since January 27, 2000 when 6.7 inches fell.
