Sarah Lopez has been declared the winner of the Sedgwick County Commission District 2 race.
Sedgwick County officially posted the final results of the election Monday afternoon. She defeated incumbent Michael O’Donnell by 264 votes to secure the win.
Lopez announced her win on Twitter. "I know we won by a small margin," Lopez said. "But I want everyone to know that I take this extremely seriously that I will represent everybody in this district," she added.
O’Donnell resigned from the commission this past Friday after the Sedgwick County District Attorney concluded that based on findings of a recent investigation, there was evidence which indicated ouster proceedings were appropriate.
