During Wednesday's Sedgwick County Commission meeting, Commissioners discussed future funding opportunities for residents and businesses under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, or CARES Act.

Applicants can look for a list of eligible expenses on the county's website this Friday, along with an on-line form to help officials decide how to distribute those funds.

The commission deferred for two weeks a vote on funding for COVID-19 antibody testing. Dr. Minns, chief public health officer, explained why the county should not fund the tests at this time. "We just don't have confidence in this. It's a tool that was developed for physicians, and the physician community that I'm aware of, and my consultants and colleagues in Kansas City all agree, this test is not ready for prime time," he said.

Commissioners also approved $125 thousand to purchase two rapid response EMS vehicles, which will provide faster, life-saving care to the west and southwest part of the county.
