Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple, members of the Wichita City Council and some City staff including City Manager Robert Layton have been placed in quarantine for two weeks after Council Member Brandon Johnson tested positive for COVID-19.
Using contact tracing, Wichita Fire Department personnel has notified the city hall staff that may have been affected and provided instructions for their quarantine and testing.
The Mayor, Council and affected staff will not be able to return to City Hall until approximately November 18, give or take a day or two.
In a press release, the city says that City Council meetings will continue as scheduled but will utilize online meeting software until the council can meet in person once again.
