Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, it was a rather brief Wichita City Council meeting Tuesday.
Last week the city moved to limit meetings to essential city services. Because of that, the workshop scheduled was canceled.
The council voted to approve 16 consent agenda items and some appointments. Before the meeting adjourned, Mayor Brandon Whipple had this request to City Manager Robert Layton.
"I would like to officially ask the manager for a memo, describing what the executive powers of the mayor may be in a time of crisis and also a memo sent to the council on what options we might have in a time of crisis, which we are currently under," Whipple said.
The City manager told the Mayor that they would have a draft opinion that could be viewed later.
There's no meeting scheduled next week, as the city doesn't conduct meetings on the 5th Tuesday of a month.
