Wichita City Manager Robert Layton has won praise from his bosses - Wichita City Council members.
On Tuesday, the council announced the results of Layton's performance review for 2019. While Vice Mayor Cindy Claycomb applauded the city manager for his work, she explained that due to budget concerns from the current COVID-19 pandemic, the city will defer any merit increase to a later date.
The manager also got high praise from council members Becky Tuttle, Bryan Frye, James Clendenin and Brandon Johnson.
In other council news, the group voted 7-0 to approve $60 thousand for Humankind Ministries, for operating emergency shelter services 24 hours per day through the end of April. The funding that the city gets through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act will cover this request.
