The Wichita Police Department is updating its policy when interacting with the community...
The department began revising the policy last year, and because of recent developments around the country, additional changes were added in the past few weeks.
The report provided to the Citizen's Review Board on Thursday listed several proposed changes to the use of force policy.
It also added additional language for rendering medical aid, allowing officers to request EMS at the scene.
Police say they have never authorized choke holds, but wanted to include language to strengthen that policy.
The attention to detail with all the proposed changes is to reduce confusion as to what is and is not allowed.
It has not yet been determined when the changes will be implemented.
