A 74-year-old woman from Newton was hospitalized after she was shot; the woman’s 70-year-old husband was arrested.
At about 1:45 a.m. Friday, Newton police responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Terrace Drive on the north side of town. A man at the house reported his wife had been shot, and he refused to answer any further questions.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita in potentially critical condition.
The woman’s husband was booked into the Harvey County Jail, and a gun was recovered.
