Several hundred community leaders attended an annual prayer breakfast in Wichita Tuesday. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News the attendees just "believing in making the community better". He says there was no formal agenda.
Meitzner also says officials from Amtrak are conducting a Zoom meeting with public officials from Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas this afternoon. The topic is possible renewal of passenger service on the Southwest Chief. There is money in a federal transportation bill to pay for railroad upgrades.
Wichita has had no passnger train service since 1979.
Meitzner commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
