The Wichita Police Department has announced the arrest a 59-year-old Wichita woman in connection with a fatal shooting in north Wichita. The investigation began early Tuesday morning when officers were dispatched after 3 a.m. to the Valero gas and convenience store located near 21st St and I-135. There, they discovered 33-year-old Darries Mitchell of Wichita suffering from gunshot wounds.
Sedgwick County EMS transported Mitchell to Wesley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Today, the WPD announced that a suspect has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on murder charges. No other details of the arrest other than the age of the age and gender of the suspect were released. The investigation is ongoing.
