Officials are urging Wichitans to conserve water now, to avoid mandatory restrictions in the future. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty is concerned about water. He says Kansas is "about 25 years behind" on holding serious discussions about water. He says 70 percent of Kansas water is used by agriculture and the state's farmers are "feeding the world."

The Sedgwick County Commission will hold an open meeting about the county budget Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Ruffin Building at Broadway and Douglas. Baty tells KNSS News County Manager Tom Stolz has presented a solid budget plan that is balanced. Baty says the county commission will consider a reduction in the property tax mill levy.

Baty commented during his weekly appearance with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
