Body in Wichita cold case homicide identified

A man’s body that was found in 1994 was identified. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office identified the body on Thursday as Harold “James” Crawford.

Crawford’s body was discovered in a field in the 5600 block of W. 47th South when workers with Kansas Gas and Electric came across his remains buried in a shallow grave.

The death was determined to be a homicide, but the body was not identified until now.

Crawford was 21 at the time of his death and lived in an apartment complex on Wichita’s east side.
