Shareholders approve Boeing’s acquisition of Wichita's Spirit AeroSystems

Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPR) announced Friday afternoon that, at the special meeting of its shareholders held earlier in the day, its shareholders voted to approve the proposed acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems by The Boeing Company. The transaction is expected to close this summer.

Last summer, Boeing announced its plans to buy Spirit with a $4.7 billion stock offer.  The transaction, is expected to close in mid-2025, subject to closing conditions including the receipt of regulatory approvals.

In a news release from Spirit AeroSystesm, the company said the Wichita supplier “will continue to operate as an independent company until the transaction closes.”
