UPDATE: Wichita Police report that a standoff west of the downtown area has been resolved. It began just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, police received reports of a disturbance with a weapon.
Investigators say that a verbal confrontation stemming from a mental health crisis took place at the residence. Because it was not criminal in nature, no additional details about the negotiations were disclosed.
Officers say that there was a concern that the person suffering from the mental health crisis had a firearm, which prompted the extra police presence.

Wichita Police are on the scene of a standoff in the 100 block of S. Gordon, west of Douglas and Meridian.
Initial reports indicate that just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, police received reports of a disturbance with a weapon.
Gordon Street has been blocked off as a precaution, as the sendoff continues.
