Murder charges have been filed, two years after a woman was killed in a car crash in north Wichita.
It happened in November 2019 at 53rd Street North and Charles Street near Meridian.
Jerry Batts, 30, was arrested and charged Thursday with second-degree murder, or, in the alternative, involuntary manslaughter. He was also charged with driving while his license was suspended or canceled, which is a misdemeanor.
Prosecutors say he was driving under the influence when he ran a stop sign, crashing into another car, before hitting a power pole. A passenger in his car, Sierra Frost. 28, was killed in the crash.
Batts and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured.
His next court appearance was scheduled for April 11. Bond was set at $150,000.
