After sitting well below normal last Memorial Day 2025, Cheney Lake is currently full and drawing boaters and campers back to the water.
On May 23, 2025, the lake level stood at 1413.63 feet. One year later, Saturday's 6 a.m. level was 1421.63 feet, exactly 8 feet higher. And those levels have stayed rather steady over the past few weeks.
Families with campers and boats have filled the campground heading into the holiday weekend.
Some visitors said they are not worried about storms in the forecast Saturday, saying the rain would only help keep lake levels up.
