A young child has died in a drowning accident. It happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at a family's back yard pool north of Goddard near 21st and 199th.
Officials say the boy, 3, apparently wandered off and ended up in the homes above ground pool. A Sedgwick County Sheriff's spokesman said EMS worked hard in an attempt to save the child, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff's department continues to investigate. No names have been released.
