A day after the city of Wichita approved it, Sedgwick County is on board with the 2035 Downtown Wichita Action plan.
The project lays out how the downtown should evolve over the next 10 years, including a redesign of Douglas Avenue, to better accommodate bike and pedestrian traffic. The plan also lays out how to better activate the Arkansas River, re-start a downtown shuttle loop, encourage new housing and to create a cultural loop.
Jeff Fluhr, President at the Greater Wichita Partnership, says he is excited about continued development in the city's core.
Around $2 billion has been invested in the downtown since 2010, including the Wichita Biomedical Campus.
