26 year old Scott Hollingsworth, an officer from Clearwater, was struck and killed early on Saturday morning while driving home from work. He was hit by a truck that failed to stop at a stop sign, according to authorities.
Three passengers in the truck, one woman and two men, were transported to the hospital. The 19-year-old man driving the truck was not taken to the hospital.
Hollingsworth has been with the department for 1 year. He is survived by a wife, daughter, parents and siblings, the city of Clearwater and police department wrote on Facebook:
