It may be time once again to, break the bank - The Piggy Bank. While the official word is that there is no coin shortage, many stores, including most convenience stores are once again asking customers for exact change, or credit or debit cards.
Many stores say they are limited by the amount of coins they can get from their banks. And like much of the supply chain issues of late, there appears to be a circulation problem. The U.S. Coin Task Force and Federal Reserve said the issue is caused in part by people leaving change at home.
If you happen to be caught short, some stores are handing out gift cards in lieu counting your change back to your pocket.
