Arctic air is set to make a frigid return this weekend, bringing some of the coldest temperatures of the season so far.
On Thursday morning, feels-like temperatures are already in the teens and 20s across the state. However, even colder conditions are on the way.
The most intense Arctic air is currently located far north near the North Pole, with wind chills in the region plunging to a bone-chilling -20°F to -40°F.
This icy air mass is expected to push southward in the coming days, with its full force hitting Kansas between Sunday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, wind chills in the Dakotas and Great Lakes region could plummet even further, reaching dangerously low levels of -30°F to -40°F.
