The contract between Wichita's Spirit AeroSystems and the machinists union and expires in 10 days; both sides are indicating there could be a strike. The contract negotiations officially began on May 1.
Spirit says its gross profit is down 95% since 2019.
Machinists say the company "is still not making reasonable proposals on overtime language, and outsourcing." They're also not pleased about some insurance options being removed.
Spirit says is expects to provide its "best and final offer" this week, the seventh week of negotiations without a contract.
Wages and benefits have been at the forefront of contract talks in recent days.
