Gary Janzen from the public works department says a recent inspection of the 57-year-old bridge showed a crack in a supporting beam. While the bridge is not in danger of immediate failure, he says the city should act sooner than later.

The council will vote on final design plans next spring. Construction should start in late summer 2022 and be complete in the fall of 2023, at a cost of $6 million.
