The county's federal lobbyist discussed the recently passed $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. Several funding opportunities will be available over the next 5 years for highway and railway projects, like a possible Amtrak stop in Wichita, the North Junction plan and the proposed Northwest Wichita Bypass.

The county approved an updated spending plan for its $100 million allotment of ARPA funding. The initial spending plan for 2021 was just over $42.98 million but that figure was revised to $28.43 million. Commissioners also approved $10.7 million in ARPA spending in the first quarter of 2022.

County leaders also learned more about the community navigator program and website, which will assist small businesses and individuals in the recovery phase of the pandemic.
